Pictures of the Magnetic Tumbler

Here is a picture of one of the magnetic tumblers I have
built. This one was built 8 years ago and has run nearly 2000 hours with no
trouble. It uses a 2 speed, 1/3 horsepower evaporative cooler motor, two small
box fans to provide cooling air to the motor, and a vent on the back side of
the cabinet to exhaust the warm air. The finish is crinkle paint, avalilable
at hardware stores and I had the switch plate made at a local photo-etching
shop. Rubber feet at the bottom support the cabinet.
I did not waterproof the wooden cabinet after painting, so you can see a crack
developing in the upper left corner.
The bowl is rubbermaid "servin saver 4" and works well for the pin
shot. I use a small 4" square plastic bowl for the 1.2mm ball shot, they
provide a much less frosty looking finish on flat items.
Note that there are two fans and two switches on this unit. I originally thought that it would be necessary to have the fans powered for a time after the main tumbler motor was turned off, but this proved un-necessary.
